My hero-my sister Linda and brother Mark
My beautiful bride Kim and I
My boys Brock(9) and TJ (10)
My Story My StoryA sudden change in how I felt is how I got to where I'm at today. I had felt very run down, tired, short of breath and at times nearly blacking out during times coaching my boys TJ and Brock. I went in to my primary doctor on 7/5 and found that my hemoglobin was at 5.1. After two blood transfusions, it had reached 7.7, but nowhere near the "recommended minimum" of an adult male of 13.5.I also did stool samples on the advice of my doctor, where they found blood. A colonoscopy on 7/14 found a malignant tumor in my ascending colon wall. I had an immediate CT scan that day which indicated a spot in my liver. A PET scan on 7/19 confirmed that the liver spot was also cancer. At this point, my prognosis is unknown, but my age and good health is very much on my side. My colon surgeon advised us this is stage 4 and also of the poor survival rate. To Kim and I, those are just numbers and don't mean anything to my approach. The early plan is to start with chemotherapy to attempt to shrink the cancer cells and for surgery at a later date. I am meeting with my liver surgeon and oncologist on 7/25 and have scheduled an appointment at the Mayo Clinic for additional recommendations on a path to attack this.
